National Crime Reading Month Tour

Devon businessman turned writer Terry Green is touring local libraries to introduce his latest crime thriller and to support the Crime Writers Association’s National Crime Reading Month (NCRM) in June.

From the man who introduced the British habit of queueing to more than 40 countries, here’s the chance to hear about the thrills and spills of his new “life of crime”. Dangerous Art, published May 21, continues the nail-biting adventures of his Terry’s hero Jake Elderfield, a management accountant turned corporate fire-fighter. Set in the high stakes world of fine art, it’s a taut, tense and riveting story of shady dealings and career criminals, of abduction, blackmail and fraud.

Terry’s tour for NCRM starts on Saturday, 23 May with an author talk at Barnstaple Library from 2pm. It continues to Plymouth Central Library 1.30pm, Saturday 30 May; Cullompton Library 2pm, Thursday 4 June; Plymstock Library 11am, Thursday 11 June and Tavistock Library 2pm, Friday 26 June. It concludes with a book signing at 10am at Okehampton Library.

Terry, the “Voice of Cashier Number Three, Please” has had a career that’s taken him from cars to queue-busting, customer service to celebrity chefs. He was already a twice-published business author when, in 2025, he turned to crime writing. He quips: “One reader said my business book, You’re Next, read like a thriller. So it got me thinking, why not?!”

Now, Terry has his foot to the floor as a crime thriller writer, author speaker and member of the CWA. His debut novel, Redline, the first in a series, is a fast and furious story set in the glamorous, high octane world of sports cars. An intriguing thriller with a host of 5* reviews, it has been dubbed “a race from start to finish”. Dangerous Art is the high-suspense sequel.

“I am delighted to be embarking on a series of talks and book signings at libraries around Devon to launch Dangerous Art and to support National Crime Reading Month,” says Terry, who lives in Tavistock. “This annual event is held throughout June to promote the world’s most popular and best-selling genre and it is led by the Crime Writers’ Association, of which I am a proud member.

“My talks and book signings are the chance for readers to hear more about my writing and the exciting adventures of my likeable hero, Jake Elderfield. They will also discover how Dangerous Art is influenced by some of my favourite places – the action starts at Burgh Island and moves to Prague, before returning to Devon.”

Tickets for Terry’s author talk at Barnstaple Library are available from www.ticketsource.com. Further details and booking information for the other events can be obtained by contacting each library individually.
